Idaho Archery Co. Advisory Team
While many shops and companies like to showcase what they call Pro Staff members, we intend to highlight we what we call the dealer advisory team. They are more than just successful hunters, they are true advocates of the sport, and local people that are respected beyond what they do in the field.
Founder of Elk101.com, is a 6-Time World Champion Elk Caller, placing in the top 5 at the RMEF World Championship Elk Calling contest 11 times in the past 12 years. He has been hunting elk in over-the-counter archery units on public land in Idaho for over 20 years. Corey currently serves as the Pro Staff Director for Sitka Gear and is a regular on the Extreme Bulls Video series produced by Steve Chappell.
Growing up in Idaho has allowed Corey the opportunity to harvest many big game animals including elk, whitetail deer, mule deer, black bear, cougar, moose, and antelope, as well as coyotes, bobcats, and many other smaller game animals. Stories of his hunts have been published in magazines such as Eastman’s Bowhunting Journal, Trophy Hunter Magazine, and more.
Corey now lives in Boise, Idaho, with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children, Isaac (6), Jessi (4), and Samuel (2), where they own a commercial/residential general contracting business.
In 1978 at the age of ten, Russ recorded his first bow kill, harvesting a rock chuck with his 25 pound Little Bear recurve. It was obvious at a very young age he had a true passion for hunting and the bow and arrow.
Growing up at the base of the Boise foothills was the perfect setting for a young bowhunter to hone his skills. He was mostly self- taught and took nothing for granted while learning the skills to succeed. The many years since have included countless memories and nearly one hundred successful big game hunts with his bow; including rocky mountain elk, mule deer, white tail deer, antelope, bear, cougar, turkey, hog, sheep, and caribou, along with numerous small game. Some of his most memorable hunts didn’t even include an arrow on the string. Russ spent several years shooting competitively at 3D tournaments, bringing home some of his favorite trophies like second place from the Traditional Nationals in Indiana and his three Idaho State championship buckles from Stanley. Without prejudice he has hunted and competed with both traditional and high tech equipment. One winter he carved an Indian flat bow out of a piece of hickory and later harvested a hog with it in California.
Some of Russ’ hunts have been featured on the TV show, “Behind the Rack” and the DVD “Lowland Mulies 3”, as well as “Bowhunter” magazine and “Idaho Hunter” magazine. He has always enjoyed helping people with their success, both at the range and in the field. He loves to hear and tell hunting stories and is happy to share ideas and information with fellow hunters. His passion for the hunt still burns today and he’ll always be drawn to the flight of an arrow. Russ lives in Nampa, Idaho with his wife of 19 years, Carole, and their two young meat packers, Jess (9) and Luke (8). He is looking forward to many more years of memories with his family and is grateful to God for the gift of hunting.
